Auricular Therapy
Stimulating the Body’s Healing Through the Power of the Ear
Auricular Therapy, also known as ear acupuncture or auriculotherapy, is a form of reflexology that focuses on the outer ear to treat various physical, emotional, and psychological conditions. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and further developed by modern practitioners, this technique uses precise points on the ear to influence corresponding parts of the body.
How It Works
The outer ear is seen as a microsystem of the entire body. By stimulating specific points on the ear — similar to acupuncture points — the body’s natural healing responses can be activated.
Stimulation methods include:
Acupressure (using small seeds or beads taped to points)
Needle acupuncture
Laser stimulation
Electrotherapy
These techniques are gentle and typically painless, making Auricular Therapy suitable for people of all ages.
What Conditions Can It Support?
Auricular Therapy is often used to support:
- Stress and anxiety
- Insomnia and sleep disorders
- Headaches and migraines
- Chronic pain
- Addiction and cravings (e.g., smoking cessation, weight management)
- Digestive issues
- Hormonal imbalances
- Post-traumatic stress
What to Expect in a Session
Your therapist will assess your condition and select specific ear points to target.
Depending on the method used, tiny seeds, needles, or other tools will be applied.
If ear seeds are used, they may remain in place for a few days for ongoing stimulation.
You’ll likely feel relaxed, calm, and balanced after the session.
Safe, Natural, and Effective
Auricular Therapy is a safe, drug-free approach to wellness with minimal side effects. It can be used as a standalone therapy or to complement other treatments such as acupuncture, massage, or counseling.
Duration
Session length: 30–45 minutes
Follow-up: Weekly or as advised, depending on your goals
Hopi Ear Candle Treatment
A Gentle, Soothing Therapy for Ears, Mind & Spirit
Hopi Ear Candling is a deeply relaxing and non-invasive holistic treatment designed to promote a sense of calm and well-being while supporting ear, nose, and throat health. Originating from traditional healing practices of the Hopi people, this therapy uses specially designed hollow candles made from natural ingredients such as cotton, beeswax, honey, and herbs.
What to Expect During the Treatment
During a Hopi Ear Candle session:
You’ll lie comfortably on your side while the therapist gently inserts a specially designed ear candle into your ear canal.
The candle is lit at the opposite end and allowed to burn slowly for about 10–15 minutes per ear.
The flame creates a gentle warming sensation and a light suction effect, known as the "chimney effect," which may help draw out impurities, excess wax, and moisture.
The session often concludes with a gentle facial massage or pressure-point stimulation to enhance relaxation and drainage.
Potential Benefits
While not a substitute for medical treatment, many clients report experiencing:
- Relief from sinus congestion
- Eased earache and pressure
- Improved clarity of hearing
- Reduced tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
- Deep relaxation and stress relief
- Better sleep quality
Is It Safe?
Hopi Ear Candling is generally safe when performed by a trained practitioner. It’s a completely natural therapy suitable for adults and older children. However, it is not recommended for individuals with:
- Perforated eardrums
- Ear infections
- Grommets or cochlear implants
- Recent ear surgery
- Allergies to beeswax or essential oils
